Introduction
You signed up for Indeed.com to find a job, but little did you know you were also signing up for unwanted emails and automated alerts. If you're trying to stop Indeed emails, you're not alone. Most users find that even after unsubscribing, the emails keep coming anyway, even long after their job search is over.
This guide walks you through exactly how to stop Indeed emails for good - through account settings, the mobile app, or by blocking them entirely.
Unsubscribe From Indeed Emails
The simplest way to stop Indeed emails is to unsubscribe directly from the emails. However, keep in mind that it may take up to 24-48 hours to take effect, and if you have multiple job alerts set up, you'll need to unsubscribe from each one individually.
A faster approach is to turn off all Indeed email notifications from your Indeed account settings, which we'll cover in the next section. And if Indeed still doesn't take the cue, you can always block their emails entirely.
Turn Off All Emails from the Indeed Account Settings
Another way to stop getting emails from Indeed is to update your email preferences in your Indeed account settings and disable any emails you don't want to receive. You can change the email settings using both the Indeed website and the mobile app by following the steps outlined below:
Note: If you can't access your account, skip to this section.
Indeed Website
- Go to the indeed.com website.
- Sign in to your Indeed account.
- Click on the profile icon in the top right corner and select
Settingsfrom the dropdown menu.
OR
Visit this link.
- Open
Communication settingsin the left menu, then selectEmail.
- Update your email preferences and keep only the emails you want to receive enabled.
- At the top, you can also unsubscribe from job and company alerts and employer and recruiter emails.
Indeed Mobile App
- Open the Indeed Job Search mobile app and sign in to your account if you haven't already.
- Click on
Profilefrom the bottom menu.
- On the profile page, tap the hamburger menu (☰) in the top right corner and select
Settings.
- Open
Communication settings, then selectEmail.
- Update your email preferences.
- At the top, you can also unsubscribe from job and company alerts and employer and recruiter emails.
Note: This method may not stop all emails from Indeed. You may still receive transactional emails (application confirmations, etc.). If you want to put a complete end to Indeed emails, read the next section.
Block Indeed Emails Entirely on Gmail with BlockSender
If unsubscribing hasn't worked, blocking Indeed emails entirely is your best option and it takes effect immediately. This method also works if you can't access your Indeed account to update your email preferences.
Gmail lets you block individual senders, but blocking an entire domain like indeed.com requires setting up a filter. BlockSender skips all of that. BlockSender is a free Chrome extension for Gmail that lets you block unwanted emails by sender, domain, keyword, subject, phrase, and more - all in just a few clicks.
- Install BlockSender for Chrome if you haven't already, and link your Gmail account.
- Open any email from Indeed.
- Click on the Block icon in the toolbar.
- Select "Emails from this domain".
Important: The above method blocks ALL emails from the Indeed.com domain. Only use it if you don't want to receive any emails from Indeed.
If you don't want to block all Indeed emails but only a specific type, then use the "Emails from this Sender" option.
Conclusion
Being subscribed to Indeed emails can seem like a dead-end when unsubscribing fails. But between adjusting your Indeed account settings and blocking Indeed at the source with BlockSender, you can put an end to the emails for good.
