Prevent Emails from Facebook Updates Cluttering your Gmail Inbox

Facebook updates are the emails you see, for example, asking you if you know this person. There are at least two different email senders (update and notifications) from Facebook. These are the standard senders from Facebook. Basically, it's attempting to provide you with a means to increase the number of people in your friends list even if you never felt like it or have no need to do so. But Facebook never seems to think otherwise. What this results in is a large amount of unwanted emails cluttering your Gmail inbox.

Follow these simple instructions to install Block Sender and start blocking unwanted emails:

  • Install Block Sender for Gmail by clicking the "Install" button found in the upper right-hand corner of this site. The installation won't take long. Open Gmail when it is done.
  • After signing up for a Block Sender account and linking your Gmail account to Block Sender, open an email from Facebook that you don't want to receive anymore, and click the "Block" button on the messages toolbar.
  • Select the "Emails from this sender" option.
